Cultural Infusions

7th November 2024 6:30pm11pm

Simply put, ‘Cultural Infusions’ is about commemorating our long-standing relationship with Postcard Teas. By shifting the lens to Japan, we come together for a night of storytelling and to highlight the small but growing cohort of Japanese winemakers (many of which are rare and highly sought after), as well as the progressive tea farmers of Kyushu, Mount Fuji and Aichi; which Tim and Haydn (Postcard Teas) will serve to accompany a special menu prepared by Head Chef Sebastian Myers.

As Alice Feiring says in Issue 32 of Noble Rot magazine, “Japanese nationals working in France have mesmerised me with their crystalline and ballsy expressions. From Tomoko of Chanterêves in Burgundy to Kenjiro Kagami in the Jura, Rié and Hirofumi Shoji in the Banyuls and the now decamped-back-to-Japan Hirotake Ooka once of Cornas”.

To echo Alice’s sentiment Head Sommelier James Lewis has pulled a few gems from the cellar and will be offering a one-off focussed bottle list exclusively on the night.

Join us as special guest Takahiro Yagi (6th generation Kaikado) talks Kaikado and the cultural significance of the cherished tea caddy. Whilst Charlie Osborne, a one-time Jazz bar owner with a penchant for Japanese art, culture and music provides the soundtrack to what is sure to be a highly memorable evening.

The menu will be a set, priced at £75 per person, and includes a signature tea by Postcard Teas. Other beverages will be charged additionally.

Seatings will be available from 6:30 to 7:30pm. The table will be yours for the evening.

Please note that due to the nature of this event, we will not be able to accommodate dietaries.
