Margot Lecarpentier

Last December, for our guest collaboration, we were joined by Margot Lecarpentier, bartender and owner of female-led cocktail bar Combat in Belleville, Paris.

Margot’s journey began in the music industry, and it was during her time living in New York that her passion for cocktails blossomed.

After this transformative experience, she returned to native France and in 2017 opened her own bar in Paris.

After the evening, we asked Margot a few things about wine.

1. You're handed a wine list, what do you do?

Ask for the sommelier's reco. It’s his list.

2. How do you know the wine you're drinking is good?

I know the last glass will be as good as the first one.

3. What is something fascinating you’ve been told over lunch?

Your dessert is dinner.

4. In whose company do you most enjoy drinking wine?

Friends

5. Can you describe your ideal combination of wine, music, and setting?

No ideal combination, the combination is related to the company. Perfect company can turn poor combination into the best combo. Only company matters.

6. What sort of food would you add to the equation?

Japanese, French, Italian

7. What is the most memorable bottle of wine you’ve drank?

Too many

8. Where did you drink it?

Makes me want to have more

As long as it’s fun
